Bangladesh all-rounder Sakib al Hasan has been nominated for the ICC annual awards in two categories – the Cricketer of the Year and the Test Player of the Year. The ICC announced the nominations at a press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Wasim Akram all set to get Knight Riders role

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram is all set top become the bowling coach-cum-consultant for the Knight Riders for the next IPL season, according to sources. Akram met team co-owner Shah Rukh Khan and Sourav Ganguly in Mumbai recently. "It was quite a positive meeting. Ganguly, whom I know very well and have played a lot of cricket against, was also there," Akram said on Monday.

Abahani sign Sakib, Mashrafee

Mashrafee bin Murtaza and Sakib al Hasan on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding with Abahani to play for the club in the forthcoming Dhaka Premier League, putting to rest all fears and doubts. Mashrafee and Sakib were the first cricketers to formally give their commitment to any club before the inter-club players’ transfer scheduled for September 29–October 1. The club has agreed to pay them Tk 20 lakh each, which is a record.
