ACC challenges scraping imprisonment of MK Alamgir

The Anti-Corruption Commission on Monday filed an appeal with the Supreme Court against the High Court verdict that cancelled the 13 years' imprisonment of Awami League lawmaker Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir in corruption case. The HC in July this year in a verdict acquitted Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir of the case and cancelled his sentence of 13 years imprisonment in a corruption case filed by the ACC.

Koko charged with money laundering

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday pressed charges against Arafat Rahman Koko and Ismail Hossain Simon in a money laundering case. ACC Deputy Director Md Abu Sayeed, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Dhaka this afternoon against Koko, son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, and Simon, son of former shipping minister late Akbar Hossain.

What about money laundering by big fishes

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is very selective in its drive against money launderers and corrupt elements, as most of the big fishes are yet to be netted. The ACC on Monday filed a money-laundering case against Tarique Rahman and his friend and business partner Giasuddin Al Mamun. Revival of cases against a few people, who exercised power during the BNP-led four party alliance government is also in the process, sources in the ACC said.

Gayeswar released on bail

BNP Joint Secretary General Gayeswar Chandra Roy was released from Dhaka Central Jail on bail on Tuesday. He walked out of the jail at about 11:00am. Earlier on Sunday, the High Court granted ad interim bail to Gayeswar in a corruption case filed by the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC).

The High Court today granted ad interim bail to BNP Joint Secretary General Gayeswar Chandra Roy in a corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). A Dhaka court yesterday sent BNP joint secretary general Gayeshwar Chandra Roy to jail in connection with a corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against him.
