The 252nd anniversary of historic Plassey Tragedy Day will be observed today across the country.
The Battle of Plassey was fought between the forces of Nawab Sirajuddaula and the East India Company on June 23 in 1757. It lasted for about eight hours, in which the Nawab was defeated by the company forces because of the treachery of his leading general Mir Jafar.
