Shibir hit list of BCL men recovered

Police have Saturday recovered a Shibir hit list containing names of 15 Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men during a raid at rooms controlled by Islami Chhatra Shibir in the Shaheed Habibur Rahman Hall of the Rajshahi University.

Rangpur college shut after BCL-JCD clash

Rangpur Government College authorities on Sunday suspended the academic activities for three days following a clash between Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) on the campus. The clash ensued as BCL activists allegedly attacked Anwar Hossain, a 4th year student, on suspicion that he belongs to Islami Chhatra Shibir on Saturday, our Rangpur correspondent reports.

BCL dissolves Dhaka College unit over ‘admission trade’

Bangladesh Chhatra League on Wednesday dissolved its Dhaka College unit over the allegation that some leaders were involved in anti-organisational activities such as ‘admission trade.’ BCL President Mahmud Hasan Ripon and General Secretary Mahfuzul Haider Chowdhury Roton took the decision. Ripon told The Daily Star that Dhaka College unit was dissolved for committing some anti-organisational activities.

Tuku in Rajshahi

State Minister for Home Affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku on Wednesday said those responsible for Tuesday’s clashes at Rajshahi University would be identified though discussions and necessary actions would be taken against them. The state minister said this while visiting the injured BCL activists at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in the afternoon, reports out staff correspondent in Rajshahi. Tuku reached at Rajshahi around 2:45pm to observe the overall situation after RU violence.

Over 100 Shibir men sued over RU violence

Two separate cases were filed early Wednesday against over 100 unnamed Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) activists including 30 by name in connection with Tuesday's clash at Rajshahi University that left one BCL man dead and 100 others injured.

RU BCL man’s body retrieved after clash with Shibir

Police recovered the body of a worker of Bangladesh Chhatra League from a manhole early Tuesday, after an overnight clash between BCL and Islami Chhatra Shibir activists at Rajshahi University. Police said deceased Faruk Hossain, a final year student of the Department of Mathematics, was hacked at the television room of Shah Mokhdum Hall and then dumped into a manhole.

BCL goes berserk at Satkhira college

Activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League drove out at least 500 students from Satkhira City College Saturday in the latest incident of admission trade in the educational institutions. Academic atmosphere continues to deteriorate as different educational institutions across the country have witnessed violent clashes between rival student organisations, vandalism to force illegal admission and factional fighting over the past 13 months that claimed lives of eight students.

25 injured in BCL factional clashes in DU

Two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League at Dhaka University clashed over establishing supremacy in Sir AF Rahman Residential Hall in the early hours of Tuesday, leaving 25 students injured. Police arrested BCL president of the hall unit Sayeduzzaman Faruk in this connection.
