Tense situation prevailing near Bangladesh-Myanmar border

Tense situation is prevailing in the border areas as the Myanmar authority is going ahead with construction of barbed wire fence along the border. A flag meeting of BDR and NASAKA of Myanmar will be held today at Mondu in Arakan of Myanmar. The 42 battalion commander of BDR will lead the Bangladesh team at the flag meeting, sources said.

BDR introduces new camouflage uniform

Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) has introduced a four-colour camouflage uniform for its soldiers and officers under a reconstitution plan against the backdrop of the February 25-26 mutiny at its Peelkhana headquarters killing 57 army officers serving the paramilitary border force.

30 new BOPs to be built for BDR

The government has decided to build 30 new border outposts (BOP) for the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) to provide better accommodations to BDR personnel working on the frontiers of the country. The government has also taken a decision to construct 24 kilometres pavement road between the BOPs to further strengthen the BDR activities in checking smuggling in the border areas, official sources said on Friday.

BDR names 23 fugitive jawans

Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) yesterday published the names of 23 jawans who remained fugitive since the February 25-26 massacre in its headquarters at Pilkhana. People have been requested to inform about the hiding jawans to the nearest police station.

175 Bangladeshis freed from Andaman jail return home

After languishing in Andaman jails for about eight months, 175 Bangladesh nationals were handed over to Bangladesh Red Crescent under the supervision of Bangladesh Rifles at Benapole-Petrapole border today around nine in the morning.

BDR reconstitution plan: Panel wants manpower cut by 30pc

Durbar Hall to hold first BDR meeting since mutiny

Bangladesh Rifles is going to hold a meeting in Durbar Hall, at the border force's Peelkhana headquarters on Monday, the first since the bloody events of last February, said BDR's director general on Saturday. "It is the first organisational activity at the hall since the mutiny," BDR chief Maj Gen Moinul Islam told reporter.

The investigating agency, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) carnage case has confirmed that over 100 border guards were involved in the planning and organising the bloody revolt in Peelkhana on February 25-26, in which 75 people including 56 army officers were killed, investigators said.

BDR, BSF agree on joint patrol along border to curb crimes

The three-day director general level talks between the border forces of Bangladesh and India ended here yesterday with broad agreement on curbing cross-border crimes and joint coordinated patrol by the BDR and BSF within their respective territories.
