Hasina asks MPs to attend JS session regularly

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday asked all members of her cabinet to attend the session of the Jatiya Sangsad regularly and on time. Sources said the prime minister's instruction came at the regular weekly meeting of the cabinet following speaker Advocate Abdul Hamid's dissatisfaction on Sunday over the absence of prominent ministers in the House. Only the prime minister and a couple of her cabinet colleagues were present in time in the House on Sunday.

Cabinet okays EPZ Sramik Kalyan Ordinance

The cabinet today approved the proposed Export Processing Zone (EPZ) Sramik Kalyan Ordinance 2009. The cabinet in principal also approved the proposed Chartered Secretaries (Amendment) Bill 2009, Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Abul Kalam Azad told reporters after the meeting.

Parties get 6 months to complete constitutions

The cabinet today approved a proposal on an amendment to the Representation of People Order Act 2009, extending time for political parties by six months to submit complete constitution to the Election Commission.

Leaders of different political parties yesterday said inclusion of six new faces in the cabinet is a welcome move that would reduce workloads in different ministers, but, they added, the newly inducted minister and state ministers would have to prove their ability to justify the decision.
