BNP hints at street agitation to realise demands

BNP secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain yesterday dropped a hint at launching a street agitation as cases against party chairperson Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman and other party leaders have not yet been withdrawn.

The Awami League-led government on Tuesday decided to recommend withdrawal of 297 more cases filed in the past with political motive, including one against Tarique Rahman, the eldest son of former prime minister Khaleda Zia. The government today decided to withdraw 123 more 'politically motivated' cases filed during the last BNP-Jamaat alliance government and the subsequent caretaker regime. All the cases were filed against the ruling Awami League men.
