Two central effluent treatment plants (ETPs) are expected to go into operation next year in the export-processing zones in Dhaka and Chittagong to better manage toxic waste water, officials have said. Factories in the EPZs will get the facilities to share the centrally installed ETPs for treating waste water before discharge.

Garment worker killed in road accident in Savar
Following the death news of a fellow worker, a fierce clash between the garment workers and the police at Narshinghapur under Ashulia police station in Savar on Tuesday morning left at least 100 garment workers injured and 60 vehicles damaged.
A Netherlands-Singapore joint venture company, Mainetti (Bangladesh) Pvt Limited, will set up an industry for manufacturing garment accessories in the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) with an involvement of 8.0 million US dollars, reports BSS.
The one hundred per cent foreign-owned company would produce plastic hangers and create an employment opportunity for 100 Bangladeshis.
