Sunny's solo exhibition at Drik
To mark the 36th anniversary of Bangladesh-Thailand diplomatic relations, the Embassy of Thailand in Dhaka organised a twelve-day exhibition on the works of 27 artists, one of them from Thailand, at the Drik Gallery in the city.
It was in 1989, a small group of people set up a picture agency in the unlikely location of Dhaka named Drik. The name 'Drik', the Sanskrit word for vision, the agency set out to represent a group of media professionals that other agencies did not cater for, practitioners living and working in the majority world.
A 10-day long photography exhibition on '400 years of Dhaka' was inaugurated at the Drik Gallery in the city yesterday.
Steve Banner, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), which sponsored the exhibition, inaugurated the show.
Mustafizur R Khan of Marketing and Communications of HSBC, among others, were present at the function.
“A picture is worth a thousand words. Many people ask us about our work and we answer as best as we can. But photos tell stories that words cannot. The photos were taken over the last year or so. They were displayed at an exhibition in Dhaka in June. We decided to bring the pictures to a wider audience.
