Film show for ailing poet Samudra Gupta

Students of the Fine Arts Institute of Dhaka University organised a nine-day film show to raise fund for the ailing poet Samudra Gupta, who is now undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in the city.

He is suffering from cancer and needs to go abroad immediately for better treatment.

Maxim Gorky festival continues

A week-long presentation of Maxim Gorky's play 'The Lower Depths' began at the Natmandal Auditorium of Dhaka University on May 25. Department of Theatre and Music of Dhaka University organised presentation. The show will begin everyday at 7:00pm till May 31.

BCL stages demo at DU for Hasina’s release

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) yesterday staged a demonstration on the Dhaka University campus demanding release of Awami League Chief Sheikh Hasina.

The organisation, student wing of Awami League, held a rally at the Battala near the Arts Building after parading different thoroughfares on the campus.

A number of students of Dhaka University under the banner of general students staged a demonstration on the campus yesterday demanding exemplary punishment to a teacher for reportedly harassing one of his female students sexually.

BCU’s founding anniversary observed

Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BCU), a left leaning student organisation, observed its 56th anniversary by holding colourful procession and rally at the Dhaka University campus yesterday.

The BCU, established in 1952, brought out a procession from Modhu`s canteen after placing wreath at the Raju monument in the morning and held a rally in front of DUCSU building.
