Detained former State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar of BNP was Friday sent to jail after 12-day interrogation on remand thrice over the August 21 grenade attack on an Awami League rally.

Gayeswar released on bail

BNP Joint Secretary General Gayeswar Chandra Roy was released from Dhaka Central Jail on bail on Tuesday. He walked out of the jail at about 11:00am. Earlier on Sunday, the High Court granted ad interim bail to Gayeswar in a corruption case filed by the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC).

A Khagrachhari court today sent 51 members of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) to jail rejecting their bail petitions. Khagrachhari District and Session Judge Mohammad Mokhter Ahmed passed the order after they were produced before the court. Ex-BNP minister Aminul Haque out on bail

Former telecommunications minister Aminul Haque was released from jail on Tuesday, after the Appellate Division upheld the BNP leader's bail in six cases. Superintendent of Rajshahi Central Jail Tipu Sultan said Aminul was released after a faxed order came from Dhaka. Rajshahi City BNP leaders and workers, and his lawyers crowded at the jail gate to greet him on his release.

DCC engineer sent to jail

A Dhaka court yesterday sent Farukh Aziz, Superintending Engineer of Dhaka City Corporation (DCC), to jail in connection with a case filed against him on charge of threatening his chief engineer by brandishing firearms. After producing him before the court yesterday afternoon, the judge SK Tofail Hassan of the Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka passed the order.
