Police tracking armed cadres from footage

Police are trying to identify the armed student cadres behind Monday's violence at Dhaka University campus, sparked by two factions of Jatyatabadi Chhatra Dal, from footage and photographs.

Miscreants ransacked and burnt the photographs of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Muksudpur early morning yesterday. Police arrested Noor Mohammad Nuru Gazi, 28, on charges of involvement in the incident. Officer-In-Charge (OC) of Muksudpur Police Station AKM Liakat Ali said a sedition case had been filed in this connection.

Updating the electoral roll with photographs kicked off in the capital and five other metropolises today. Enumerators of the Election Commission (EC) will make door-to-door visits in the six city corporations -- Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet and Barisal -- till October 5.

Photo show on '400 years of Dhaka’ opens

A 10-day long photography exhibition on '400 years of Dhaka' was inaugurated at the Drik Gallery in the city yesterday.

Steve Banner, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), which sponsored the exhibition, inaugurated the show.

Mustafizur R Khan of Marketing and Communications of HSBC, among others, were present at the function.
