Poultry sector incurs loss of Tk 3,858 cr due to bird flu

The country has incurred a Taka 3,858 crore as loss in the poultry sector due to spread of the H5N1 bird flu influenza from 2007 to 2008 while prices of poultry chicken and eggs were reduced by 30 percent.

PSI, import duty from poultry feed withdrawn

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has exempted poultry feed ingredients from import duty and mandatory pre-shipment inspection (PSI) with a view to helping the bird-flu hit poultry industry to recover from huge financial losses.

The board has issued a Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) Sunday waiving all types of duty and mandatory PSI on import of poultry feed raw materials.
