Sangma wants Hasina to visit Meghalaya

Former speaker of Indian parliament Purno A Sangma said he would arrange a tour for Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the north-eastern state of Meghalaya during her official visit to India next month. Sangma, a senior leader of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), believes that her visit to the north-eastern state would help boost trade between the two countries.

Sheikh Hasina chosen for Indira Gandhi Peace Prize

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been selected for the prestigious Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development this year for her "outstanding contribution to the promotion of democracy and pluralism". This was decided by an international jury chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust said. The award, which carries a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh and a citation, would be presented to her at a function to be held at a later date.

PM happy with the verdict

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah by offering nafal prayers after hearing the verdict of the Bangabandhu murder case which was pronounced by the Supreme Court in the morning.

PM returns home from Italy

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home on Thursday morning from Rome after a four-day official visit to Italy. She went to Italy on November 15 to attend the World Summit on Food Security-2009, arranged by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stated unequivocally that she wants a fair judgment in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman murder case to be delivered today by the Supreme Court. “I just want justice. I don't want to say anything more about it now,” she said while addressing a reception accorded in her honour by the Italy chapter of ruling Awami League at Oriental Hall at Piazza Ri Di of the Italian capital Rome Tuesday night. Hasina is scheduled to return to Dhaka at about 9:00am today ahead of the apex court judgment on Bangabandhu killing.

Hasina for involving women in climate change challenges

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Tuesday stressed the importance of involving women in the process of tackling the challenges of global climate change. Sheikh Hasina said this while making her opening remarks as the Co-chair of the roundtable titled 'Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Challenges for Agriculture and Food Security' at the World Summit on Food Security 2009' at the Headquarters of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Tuesday. Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury was also present.
