Uptrend in kitchen market, rice stable

The prices of some essential items especially edible oil, lentil and some other varieties of vegetables were showing an upward trend in the city's kitchen markets yesterday.

Potato price is galloping in the northern districts as the production faced a setback in the region this year. A kilogram of potato is now selling in the retail markets at a rate double its price two weeks ago.

Short supply makes veggies, fishes dearer

The price of vegetables and fishes increased further at the city markets in the past week as supply of the perishables remained short mainly because of dry summer. Prices of major food gains including rice and wheat and red lentil continued declining trend as new stocks of these produces were coming to market.

Vegetables prices drop in capital

Prices of almost all vegetables came down in different kitchen markets in the capital on Friday while prices of eggs, mug dal, tomato, domestic poultry and fish marked a fresh hike than last week.
