The revenue intelligence identified top 10 reconditioned vehicle importers for investigation into a pre-budget surge in car imports to ascertain the extent of duty theft. The central intelligence cell of National Board of Revenue will probe the allegations that vehicle importers had advance information about duty measures coming in the new budget and went for massive imports from Japan to get duty benefits, showing new vehicles as reconditioned ones.
