Students of the Fine Arts Institute of Dhaka University organised a nine-day film show to raise fund for the ailing poet Samudra Gupta, who is now undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in the city.
He is suffering from cancer and needs to go abroad immediately for better treatment.
The film show started at the AFA's Auditorium on May 27 and will continue to June 4. A total of 31 famous films from home and abroad will be screened during the festival.
Poet Nirmalendu Goon and filmmaker Soovas Dutt inaugurated the festival at 2:00pm. Hirak Rajar Deshe by Satyajit Ray was screened after the inauguration.
