Colorful kite festival held in city

Aged people along with the Children and juveniles enjoyed a colorful kite festival at the central playground of the Dhaka University (DU) yesterday noon.

Especially, the elders lost themselves for a moment in their childhood when they were taking kites on the air.

Chanting the slogan "Stay healthy, drink boiled water" the festival was jointly organised by 'Dhakabashi' and 'Bangladesh Kite Federation' (BKF) to mark the Global Youth Service Day-2009.

At this time different kinds of kites such as 'Shap Ghuri', 'Murak Ghuri', 'Chumki Dar', 'Lez Dar' have been flown on the air.

A kite flying competition between different kite flyer groups of the city was also held.

Twelve groups participated in the competition.

Prof Nazma Akhtar was present as chief guest at the function while Md Sukur Salek, president of BKF, conducted it.

Among others Syed Rezaul Islam, president of 'Bishya Kala Kendra', organizer Shahin Parveen and Abdul Baker were present at the festival.

In the competition 'Jinjira Hauli kite group' won the champion's trophy and 'Bangladesh Writers Forum kite group' won the runner's up trophy.
