Editors concerned about intel interference in media

Editors of a large number of national daily newspapers and some senior journalists at a meeting on Thursday expressed their concerns about the increasing interference of a security agency in discharging professional responsibilities of both print and electronic media.

The journalists also reached a consensus to work out a strategy to run the media organisations independent of such interferences both in and outside the capital city, sources attending the meeting said.

In this regard, they felt they needed to hold a meeting on a broader scale with the representatives of media organisations, journalists’ unions and various forums of reporters, sub-editors and others. The meeting will be held on Monday.
