Nine Bangladeshi companies/exporters participated in a four day long International Autumn Trade Fair (IATF)'08 in Dubai, UAE 15-18 December 2008. The companies dealing with different products took part in the fair under the banner of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of the Ministry of Commerce. The main purpose of the fair was to introduce Bangladeshi products to UAE and to find market for the same.
The main products exhibited by the participants from Bangladesh included soft drinks, candy, biscuits, chips, mango bars, chutney, ready tea, jelly, mustard oil, snacks, aromatic rice, spices, handmade show pieces, cotton goods, handicrafts made of jute, ready made garments, salwar, kameez, saree, tops, bed cover, t-shirts, pillow cover, dry cell batteries, bicycle tyre & tubes etc.
Bangladesh Pavilion in the fair was visited by H.E. Mr. Nazmul Quaunine, Ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to UAE. Only trade visitors were allowed at this exhibition. But it was open for general public for one day. At least 8,000 visitors visited the Bangladesh pavilion. The participants held a series of business meetings with potential buyers, agents and visitors. It was reported that they had received prospective export orders amounting to US $ 500,000.
