Guardians of Udayan High School, situated in the Dhaka University (DU) campus yesterday called for a strike for indefinite period to protest against increasing various fees violating government's rules in the institution.

In the first day of the strike no class was held in the school. Guardians demanded immediate action to reduce the enhanced amounts of fees, otherwise they threatened of continuing the strike for unlimited times.
Source said, the authority of Udayan has been taking higher amounts of money than any other institutions in name of various fees for years.
In comparison with Vikarunnessa Noon School, Udayan is taking furthermore 170 taka in monthly fee, 450 taka in exam fee, 400 taka in development fee, 1000 taka as re-admission fee, which are the direct violation of government's rules, added the source.
Despite this there is no development of facilities in the School, guardians complained.
Abul Kalam Azad, the convener of Udayan School Guardians Forum said until reducing the enhanced fees the strike will continue.
