DSE, CSE big fall amid selling spree

Country's prime burse-the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) yesterday experienced a heavy fall amid selling spree among the investors. During the day DSE's general index lost 32.20 points or 1.22 per cent while the all share price index fell by 31.10 points or 1.42 per cent.

Nearly seventy per cent of the issues traded on the day saw losses on the day.

The DSE started its day with slight rise but began to fall in the noon followed by a sharp decline. The DSE blue-chip DSE-20 fell 9.88 points or 0.47 per cent to 2059.50.

During the days trading 169 issues declined, 69 advanced and seven remained unchanged.

Indices on Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed downbeat due to massive losses in textile, cement and services scripts while prices of banks edged up.

The CSCX or selective categories index fell 63.45 points or 1.21 per cent to close at 5143.59.

The CASPI or all share price index ended on 7949.36, slumping 119.04 points or 1.47 per cent.

The CSE-30 blue-chip index shed 16.15 points or 0.25 percent to finish at 6239.53.

Of the traded issues, 119 declined, 44 advanced with one issue remained unchanged.

Dhaka stocks saw Tk 5.66 billion changing hands, through 29,428,527 shares traded, down from Thursday's high of Tk 6.47 billion.

Turnover on the port city bourse reached Tk 637.618 million from trading of 5,540,643 shares- falling from Tk 744.082 million on Thursday.
