Some 300 houses were damaged and 40 people were injured in a nor'wester in Sunamganj district Friday after a countrywide heat wave swept the country, locals said.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Zia Uddin, however, said the extent of losses were yet to be determined.

The 10-minute storm swept a number of villages under Doarabazar Upazila, Narasinghpur Union Parishad chairman Shamsul Haq Namu said.

The injured were given primary treatment.
