Two parliamentary standing committees working on graft and irregularities have decided to refer to their respective ministries the findings of their probe reports against former advisers Barrister Mainul Hosein and Anwarul Iqbal for passing on to Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for legal action, competent sources said yesterday.

Another standing committee already sent to the shipping ministry the documents and evidences it received on alleged corruption and irregularities of another former adviser of immediate past caretaker government Maj Gen (Retd) Abdul Matin for referring to ACC for possible prosecution, they said. An allegation against the former chief adviser Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed for allegedly subjecting many political leaders to physical and mental torture and social humiliation through misuse of power was received by a parliamentary standing committee on public undertaking.

Former Jamaat lawmaker Shahjahan Chowdhury submitted the allegation against Dr Fakhruddin before the JS committee headed by Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir who has already decided to conduct necessary investigation into the allegations. Dr Mohiuddin Khan, who is a member of Presidium of ruling Awami League party, has confirmed the receipt of complaint against Dr Fakhruddin and said that the investigation into the allegation would start soon. On Mainul Hosein and Anwarul Iqbal, the two parliamentary standing committees on ministries of public works and LGRD will also refer corruption charges to the law, housing and public works ministry and LGRD ministry which they headed as advisers under Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed government, it is learnt.
