Dhaka, Sunday, August 30, 2009 - 2:18am The police arrested the Triple Super Phosphate Fertilizer Factory managing director in Chittagong on charges of raping a housemaid in his official residence at Patenga early Saturday.
The police said they had raided the residence of Zahurul Islam, the managing director, and arrested him at about 2:30am on charges of raping the housemaid, Papi Akter, 15, a resident of Gaurnadi in Barisal based on a complaint. The police also said the victim’s elder sister informed the Double Mooring police at about 12:15pm that Zahurul had held Papi hostage in the house and she was raped several times after she had joined work on August 23.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner of the Double Mooring zone Nirmalendu Bikash quoting the victim said Zahurul used drug and raped her. He also said the victim informed her sister of the matter over telephone as she could not come out from the house. The police said Zahurul had admitted of raping her four times. Zahurul’s driver Sirajul Haque gave Papi that job of housemaid for Tk 3,000 a month; the police official said, adding Sirajul had also been arrested.

ক্রাইসিস মানেই বিকার যা চিকিৎসা বিজ্ঞানের দৃষ্টিতে ডিজিজ বা রোগ। তাই আলচ্য গুরুতর অপরাধের ঘটনাটিকে ক্রাইসিস বললে অপরাধের গুরুত্বকে হালকা করে হবে। এটা নেহায়েত মানবিক ও নৈতিক ক্ষলন,যা অপরাধ আইনে একটি গুরুতর অপরাধ হিসেবেই বিবেচিত।

This type of news is very hard to comprehend. I read the story a few times after you notified. This is a typical story in our society. Most of the story are unheard though. If this story is true, I have my utmost "ghrina" the MD of the industry. I do not care what life crisis (mid or late) he was passing through. In my opinion, the MD must be in jail for his life time without parole (I do not support death sentence for for any offence other than first degree killing charge). The driver must be punished for assisting the MD for the crime. The driver must knew about he MD's character. Well, the family of victim was also greedy I would say. Now a days women can easily get job in NGO or garments. Why the family would send a 15-year old girl as a maid for an adult male living alone? Taka 3000/month as a maid is too much in context of Bangladesh. Why not the family get suspicus when that much money is being offered for a maid? The ugly situation could have avoided if the family took some extra precautions before sending their 15-yr old gril. I pray for the victim and her family.

The police already said Mr. MD used drug and raped her. It is little ususual for police to take prompt action against high officials. Usually high officials have hot connection with police. Unless legal groups get involved in such cases, police just make their wallet fat. So, something phishing might be going on. Hope we get more information in furture about this story. Thanks.
