BDR sources said they might be hiding abroad since the BDR massacre. Director General of BDR Major General Mainul Islam yesterday told The Independent that the 23 sepoys remained fugitive after 'Operation Rebel Hunt.' "We have given names of the fugitive BDR sepoys with photographs to the Director General of Border Security Force (BSF) of India recently seeking help to arrest them," he said. On May 24, the BDR authority said a total of 25 sepoys remained fugitive. Of them, only two of them were arrested during 'Operation Rebel Hunt,' which ended recently.
