Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad yesterday said that the media of the country was able to ensure transparency and accountability for the development and progress of a corruption free Bangladesh.
He was addressing as chief guest at an award giving ceremony at Shahid Moyez Uddin Auditorium at Nayapaltan in the city. Family Planning Association (FPAB) organised the 'FPAB Journalism Award -2008' with President of the organisation and Lawmaker Meher Afroz Chamki in the chair. Executive Editor of The Daily Sangbad Manzurul Ahsan Bulbul and Acting Director General of FPAB Dr Zahiruddin Ahmed spoke at the programme among others. The minister said the present government was very sincere to establish a developed, democratic and non-communal Bangladesh with the assistance of the journalists and all.
He also said that the journalists and media should play effective role to find out faults of the government and private establishments to help ensure transparency and accountability side by side raising public awareness. He called upon the people and the journalist community to work to implement the dream of Bangabandhu and implement the dream of Digital Bangladesh.
