Dhaka, Monday, June 1, 2009 - 1:03am Chief Whip Abdus Shahid today said he would return Tk 1 lakh he had taken from the parliament member club fund for medical treatment during the eighth parliament when he was in opposition.
"I have decided to return the money since the matter gets controversial," Shahid said at a press conference at his office this afternoon. "I sought Tk 5 lakh but the club sanctioned Tk 1 lakh for my treatment," he added.
On May 29, a parliamentary sub-committee investigating corruption at the parliament secretariat over the last seven years disclosed that lawmakers and officials took Tk 64 lakh of Tk 69 lakh earned by the club.
Former chief whip Khandaker Delwar Hossain and his successor Abdus Shahid, former whip Syed Wahidul Alam and present Opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque took Tk 26 lakh from the fund during the last parliament.
Delwar, who was the chief of the club, took Tk 18 lakh, former secretary of the club Wahidul took Tk 4 lakh, Shahid, who was the opposition chief whip, at the last parliament, took Tk 1 lakh and Farroque took Tk 3 lakh.

In past I also read few wicked deeds involving Mr. Abdus Shahid in news papers. But since I didn't have any way to justify whether they were really true or untrue later, I should not mention those. But this gentleman is in my suspicion list.
আমার মনে হয় চীফ হুইপ পদের মধ্যে ভুতের আছর আছে। অতীতের আবুল হাস্নাত আব্দুল্লাহ, খন্দকার দেলওয়ার হোসেন, এনাদের কথা স্মরন করুন!!
উনি বলেছিলেন,এক মিনিটেই বদলে গেলেন।

চীপ হুইপ জনাব আব্দুস শহীদ বলেছিলেন যে, উনি সংসদ ক্লাব থেকে চিকিৎসা বাবদ তার নেয়া এক লক্ষ টাকা ফেরৎ দিবেন। আপাত দৃষ্টিতে মনে হয়েছিল এ ঘোষনার মাধ্যমে তিনি তার আন্তরিক স্বচ্ছতারই প্রকাশ ঘটিয়েছেন। কিন্তু মাত্র এক মিনিট পরেই তিনি তার এ ঘোষনা থেকে সরে এসে সকলকে বিস্মিত ও নিজেকে ধীকৃত করেছেন।
তাকে ধীক্কার জানানোর ভাষা আমার জানা নেই।
