"After imparting different types of trainings for six months to the HSC passed youths, they will be given one and a half year long jobs," Finance Minister AMA Muhith told a press briefing today at the National Economic Council (NEC) auditorium.

The press briefing was arranged to inform journalists about the outcome of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB)'s conference held in Turkmenistan that the finance minister attended last week.

Allocation is being made in the budget for the next fiscal year for this purpose and initially the programme will be introduced in two to three upazilas, the finance minister said.

"The programme is being taken in line with the Awami League's election manifesto," Muhith said adding that the types of training will include military training, agriculture and housing works.

The finance minister also said they will be given jobs in the ministries of agriculture, social welfare and public housing.

The military training will not be compulsory, rather optional, he said.

After two years, the youth will take decision whether he/she will go for higher education or build up a career at his/her present position, Muhith added.
