The government has appointed Ismat Jahan, permanent representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations, as the next ambassador to Belgium, a foreign ministry press statement said on Monday.

A career diplomat, Jahan joined the foreign service cadre in 1983. She had her post-graduate degree on economics from Dhaka University in 1983. Ismat Jahan also had a master degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in the US.
