Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of Awami League, yesterday urged the government and the Dhaka University (DU) authority to hold mass desired DUCSU (Dhaka University Central Student Union) election.
The demand came from a rally held on the university campus organised by BCL DU unit.
The demands, which were placed in the rally, are immediate election of DUCSU along with Hall Sangsad election, removing residential crisis, improving meal standard, ensuring sufficient transportation facilities and reducing price of all kinds of academic ingredients.

Chowdhury Roton, DU Unit President Sohel Rana Tipu, GS Sajjad Sakib Badsha and other central and university level leaders attended the rally.
The BCL President Mahmud Hasan Ripon said 'We are demanding DUCSU election for years, but authorities could not pay heed in our demand. Now, we believe that there are no restrictions still in the way of election.'
'So we expect that university authorities would take steps in this connection as soon as possible', he added.
General Secretary Mahfuzul Haider Chowdhury Roton said 'Students of Dhaka University are suffering from various problems, which can easily remove by an effective student union.'
He added that 'Chhatra League always works for the general students. So we want immediate election of DUCSU, which is a platform of all kinds of extracurricular activities.'
A good number of BCL activists from different dormitories took part in the rally while they were chanting various kinds of slogans in favour of their demands.
