Hundreds of workers of two garment factories have laid siege to Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) office since morning demanding salary and bonus.

Workers of Fashion Trust Private Limited and Markab Design of Mirpur area also blocked Pantha Path Link Road for one hour from 4:00 pm to press their demands.
The protesters said they did not get their salaries for March and April.
Mizanur Rahman, accountant of Fashion Trust Private Limited, conceded that they could not pay the workers.
Owner of the factories Pranab Chowdhury went into hiding fearing workers unrest, he added.
Mizanur told The Daily Star that production at the garment factories was almost zero since March 16 as Dhaka Electric Supply Authority cut off the power supply.
"The factories have been running on generator since then," he said.
