Inspector Hosne Ara begum created a stir in the Police. She was recruited as18th in National Cantonment Headquarters as a first female OC Before this no female got the job as a OC before. Last 1st April, in Rajarbag Police Line Auditorium, in the police week 2009 Home minister Sahara Khatun had given this responsibility to look into this matter to IG noor Mohammad.

Gazipur's Kapalia area's Pubali Village girl Hosne Ara used to believe since a young age that she would take up a challenging job when she grows up. After graduating from Gazipur Vowel College as a BA student, she got enrolled in Library Since in Dhaka University.
While studying she found the job opportunity in the papers and saw that they are hiring Sub Inspector females. She applied without letting anyone know. While giving her written exams, her relatives came to know that she is appearing exams to join the police force.
In 1981, she joined as sub inspector in the police force. After two years of training she was recruited in different head-offices. From 83 to 92, she was in CID for a while. After 92 till 95 she was in different CMP offices. She joined Sylhet Range from 95 till 2001. After this till 2008 she took charge of Moulobhi bajaar area. After this she was promoted to inspector and got charge of special branch. This courageous lady had taken part in several missions.
After joining Cantonment Headquarters, she said, ' It is a challenging job and that is exactly why I joined Police force. OC in charge is a big step for me and a challenge. I will be successful here too if I get everyone's well wishes.'
Back in 1974, the first female police were recruited. The members were only 14 in number. 7 were sub inspector and 7 were constable. After 35 years, now the member are around 1937. One DIG, 4 Excess DIG, 19 ASP, 10 section ASP, normal ASP 77, inspector 53, AI 189, ASI and Head constable around 253 and Constable around 1,331.
Very soon there will be more 2000 recruits. Female police battalion are going to be formed. After assessing the need of female police, Women Police Network was formed last 21st November. First female DIG Fatema Begul is leading this network. At present she is special DIG. Excess DIG Rowshan Ara is now in UNICEF Mission in Suda, Special Branch Training school's Yasmin Gafur and Dha Range's Excess DIG Mili Biswas. These women are working their respective fields with great commitment and dedication.
