The patrol police in the early hours of yesterday caught six Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists red handed while they were engaged in snatching valuables of passerby on the Dhaka University campus.
Officer in-charge (OC) of Shahbagh Police Station Rezaul Karim said, patrol police caught the BCL activists while they were snatching in the opposite side of the TSC in front of Shurawardhi Uddan. Five of them are students of Dhaka University while another is a student of Dhaka College. Dhaka University proctor KM Saiful Islam identified his students. Expressing his sorrow the proctor vowed to take stern academic as well as administrative action against them.
The university students were identified as third year student of the Islamic History department Zaman Mia, second year student of Philosophy department Rummon Hossain Sami, second year student of Statistic department Zahid, second year student of Islamic History Kudrotey Khuda, and a second year student of Bengali department Soharab Hossain, Another, Anirban is a first year student of Dhaka College. Campus sources said, they all belong to the BCL SM Hall president group.
OC Rezaul said, a case was filed under the speedy trial act in this connection.
