The benchmark price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Sunday neared 3400-mark, reaching at all time high of 3392.02. The index surged on the week's opening, fuelled mainly by pharmaceuticals, power and energy, textile and service sectors' issues.
DGEN, the general price index of the country's prime bourse, crossed 3300- mark on October 18 and kept moving up with some ups and downs until the closing of the last week on Thursday when it finished at a new high of 3364.26. The index Sunday gained 27.57 points when prices of 144 issues advanced on buoyant trading.
The number of losing issues was 88, mostly the companies with week fundamentals. The top gainers included issues from banking, pharmaceuticals and commodity sectors. DSE market update at the day's closing showed voluminous transaction of power and energy, pharmaceutical and food and allied sectors' issues.
