Maulana Motiur Rahman Nizami has been reelected Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh for the next three-year term from 2010 to 2012. The announcement was made yesterday at a meeting of the election commission at party central office with chief election administrator Maulana Rafiuddin Ahmed in the chair.
Maulana Nizmai's present tenure as Jamaat chief was scheduled to conclude on December 31. Now, he will take his office by taking oath on December 7 at a meeting of newly elected Majlish-e-Shura as he was reelected party Ameer. The election was held from October 1 to October 25 this year. About 28,000 rokons (members) of 78 organisational districts and central unit franchised their votes to elect the Jamaat Ameer. The other members of the five-member election commission include Prof Sharif Hossain, Mominul Islam Patwari, Saiful Alam Khan Milon and Prof Mazharul Islam.
