BNP Chairperson and the Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia on Friday criticised the government for not including the RMG sector in the stimulus package designed to tackle the impacts of global economic recession.

She asked the government to allocate money for the readymade garment sector from the stimulus package. "I demand the government act fast on paying the amount the sector deserves from the package," Khaleda said while addressing the closing ceremony of Bangladesh Apparel and Textile Exposition (Batexpo) 2009.
She termed it unfortunate that the package was not stretched to the highest forex-earning sector. The opposition leader said the government's decision would make it difficult for the garment sector to keep up its contribution to the economy at the current pace.
