President Zillur Rahman leaves for Turkey on Friday on a six-day tour to attend COMCEC economic summit under the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Dean of Diplomatic Core Swedish Ambassador Britt Falkman Hagostrom, Turkish Ambassador Sakir Ozkan Torunlar, cabinet secretaries, chiefs of three services, foreign secretary, senior civil and military officials saw off the president at Zia International Airport this morning. The COMCEC Economic Summit, being held in Istanbul in marking the commercial bloc’s 25th founding anniversary, begins on November 9. The function will be chaired by COMCEC Chairman and Turkish President Abdullah Gul.
The president is expected to reach Istanbul on November 7 via Dubai. He is scheduled to visit the shrine of Hazrat Eyup Sultan Ansari (RA) and the Topkapı Palace Museum on November 8. Besides delivering his address at the COMCEC summit on November 9, President Zillur Rahman is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with heads of state and government of Turkey and Jordan. President Zillur is scheduled to return home on November 11.
