More than a hundred affected landowners at Chunkutia under South Keraniganj staged a demonstration on Friday in protest against alleged land grabbing by Bashundhara Group.

Under the banner of Chunkutia Mouja Landowners' Samiti, they have taken a programme to place their ownership signboards on their respective lands with the help of local surveyors today. Meanwhile, Bashundhara Group authority held several negotiation meetings with the samiti last week.

But the landowners alleged that the group did not stop earth filing in their lands, which was a precondition for any negotiation. "Now we have realised that Bashundhara has applied a trick in the name of negotiation to buy time to foil the ongoing movement of the general landowners," General Secretary of the samity SA Lokman said.
