The nagging power crisis in the country would be solved by increasing generation within two years, said the Power and Energy Adviser to the prime minister, Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury.

“The government have the vision and is planning to solve the crisis. But it will take time as increasing generation to the need is not possible overnight,” Tawfiq said after inaugurating the four-day International CNG Exhibition at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Friday. He suggested efficient use of gas, electricity and other mineral resources to help the nation get rid of crisis, and asked the conversion and refueling stations to take safety measures to avoid accident.
Tawfiq said the air quality was horrible before but it is now possible to breathe in fresh air thanks to CNG conversion of vehicles. At least 20 countries of different regions are participating in the exhibition. Among others, chairman of Petrobangla, Prof Dr Hossain Mansur, managing director of Rupantorito Prakritik Gas Company Ltd (RPGCL), Shafiul Alam, Korean consular to Bangladesh, Riyad Ali and MD of Rahim Afroz CNG Ltd, Mudassir M Moyeen, also addressed the inaugural ceremony. The Daily Star and private television channel ETV are the media partners of the exhibition which will end on November 9. The exhibition is open from 10:00am to 8:00pm everyday.
