Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) observed the National Revolution and Solidarity Day on Saturday marking the civil-military "uprising" that led to release of then army chief Ziaur Rahman on this very day in 1975. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia placed wreath on the grave of late president Ziaur Rahman in the morning.

Meanwhile, the other political parties and different social organisations observed the day from different historical perspective. The ruling Awami League and its front organisations observed it as the day of "killing of freedom fighters". While attending a rally in front of the Awami League office on this occasion, State Minister for Law Qamrul Islam alleged that BNP is creating confusion among the people by concealing the real history of November 7. "People who are trying to observe the day as the National Solidarity Day are trying to create confusion for a long period," he said
The Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee held a discussion marking the day of the killing of freedom fighter-soldiers at Bangabandhu Avenue while the Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organised a rally in front of the Awami League office. The Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal and some other political parties also marked it as ‘the day of mass-upheaval of people and sepoys’ and organised discussion programme. On the other hand, BNP Secretary General Khandaker Delwar alleged that the ruling Awami League intends to destroy the significance of November 7. He said, " The present government is opposing the November 7 by declaring the day as 'freedom fighter killing day' and carrying out programmes of the occasion. But the fact is that Awami League started the politics of killings in the country"
