Ransacking of Barisal BNP office :Case filed against 100 AL men

A case was lodged on Friday night against 100 Awami League and its front organisation leaders and activists on charge of vandalising Barisal BNP office. BCC Mayor asked police to arrest real culprits.

Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League activists on Thursday afternoon, ransacked the BNP office complex on the Aswani Kumar Hall premises in Barisal city and set it on fire at about 5:30 pm, blaming BNP for the blast near AL office in Dhaka. Md. Mantu Khan, a member of district BNP convening committee, as complainant lodged the case under speedy trial act in this connection on Friday night. The accused include Syed Anisur Rahman, district AL publicity secretary, Mashiur Rahman Mintu, district AL committee member, Zakir Hossain alias Taak Shahin, president and Shahin alias Faith Shahin, secretary of Jubo League and Ziaur Rahman, convener of Barisal city BCL , Rafiq Serniabad and Moin Tushar, joint conveners of B M College BCL.

The complainant alleged that Al, AJL and BCL leaders and cadres pre-planned broke-open the entrance gate and doors and ransacked different rooms of the three storeyed building housing the district and city units of BNP and its front organisations and set fire to rooms and furniture during about 20-minute rampage causing damages worth Tk.3,00,000. Inspector Shaheduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Barisal Kotwali model police station, said, the case has been registered and police will start investigation immediately after visiting the spot, recording statements of eye-witnesses and collecting evidences from different mass media sources.
