ACC challenges scraping imprisonment of MK Alamgir

The Anti-Corruption Commission on Monday filed an appeal with the Supreme Court against the High Court verdict that cancelled the 13 years' imprisonment of Awami League lawmaker Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir in corruption case. The HC in July this year in a verdict acquitted Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir of the case and cancelled his sentence of 13 years imprisonment in a corruption case filed by the ACC.

ACC lawyer advocate Khurshid Alam Khan told The Daily Star that the ACC has filed the leave-to-appeal petition with the SC against the HC verdict that acquitted Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir and cancelled his sentence in this case. He said a special court in Dhaka had sentenced Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir to 13 years imprisonment on charges of amassing illegal wealth and concealing information about it during regime of the caretaker government. He also said that ACC will submit and application to the SC for fixing a date and hearing the leave-to -appeal petition.
