At least 50 ready-made garment workers, including eight policemen, were injured in a clash between the workers and police in Savar on the outskirts of the capital today. Police said the employees of Unlima Group have been protesting since last Saturday to reinstate their four fellow-workers, who were fired before Eid vacation.
Police charged baton on the workers when they tried to bring a procession this afternoon in front of the factory near Ulan bus stand and chase and counter-chase took place among them. Police also lobbed tear gas shells to bring the situation under control, leaving around 50 people, including eight police constables, injured.
