Education Policy denounced

Speakers at a seminar yesterday said that the proposed National Education Policy 2009 has been formulated by the controversial persons and it a completely a violation of the country's constitution as it has denied the religious values of 90 percent Muslims of the country.

The seminar on 'Review the National Education Policy, 2009 and Recommendations', organised by Sammilita Pashajibi Forum was held at the National Press Club in the city. Former Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdur Rouf attended the programme as the chief guest with former vice chancellor of Jossore Science and Technology University Dr Tajul Islam in the chair.

Professor of Dhaka University Dr M Mujahidul Islam presented the keynote paper at the roundtable while it was addressed, among others, by vice chancellor of Manarat University Prof Dr Abdur Rab, vice chancellor of Bangladesh Islamic University Prof Dr M Kurban Ali, professors of Dhaka University Dr ABM Siddikur Rahman Nijami and Dr Rajia Akter Banu.

Speakers said that the proposed education policy would lead the next generation of the county to the wrong path. So the education policy has to be cancelled without delay in the interest of the country's people, they said. Criticizing the education policy, they blamed the government for trying to implement a secular education system adopting the education policy in the light Dr Kudrat-e-Khuda Education Policy. At the seminar, a 14-point demand was placed. The demands include holding view exchange meetings with stake holders on the issue.
