President of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Annisul Huq has called upon the business community of Switzerland to invest in Bangladesh’s potential sectors especially ICT, RMG and Pharmaceuticals. The chief of the country’s apex trade body made this call while speaking at a meeting with business leaders of Switzerland at the conference room of Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Geneva (CCISG) yesterday, said a FBCCI press release on Sunday.
The meeting was held as part of the FBCCI’s four-country trips in West Europe. Forty-three member FBCCI business delegation is now visiting Switzerland. Director of International Affairs Department of Geneva Chamber Philippe Meyer presided over the meeting while high officials of Bangladesh mission in Geneva, Switzerland, business leaders, Bangladeshi businessmen in Switzerland were present.
Annisul Huq appraised the Switzerland business community of Bangladesh’s presents economic scenario and the role and activities of the FBCCI in expanding trade and commerce in the country. Mentioning the trade gap between Bangladesh and Switzerland, he said the gap should be minimized for reaping each other’s economic benefit.
Forthcoming ministerial meeting of the World Trade Organization to be held in Geneva also came up for discussion. Philippe Meyer evinced his keen interest in working with Bangladesh’s business community in a coordinated manner. The FBCCI delegation has visited Germany and France last week. It will also visit Italy and expected to return home on October 16.
