A devastating fire broke out at the storehouse of National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) in Tejgaon Industrial area in the capital today. Meanwhile, teams from army, navy joined the fire fighting units, who were trying to douse the fire till filing of this report at about 1:00pm. Fire brigade sources said the fire originated in the NCTB’s storehouse at about 7:15am. But they could not ascertain the reason behind the fire.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, who visited the spot, said the extent of damage could not be estimated immediately but it will cause a huge loss. The NCTB authority said printed textbooks and papers for distribution at primary level for free were stored in the godown, ATN Bangla said.
