Chittagong Port dock workers-employees' federation demonstrated in the port demanding reinstatement of the workers terminated during the immediate past caretaker government, boycotting the scheduled meeting with Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan Thursday.

Meanwhile, the federation called work abstention for eight hours on October 27 to press home their four-point demand. During his two-day trip, the minister is visiting the Chittagong port today and he will visit Cox’s Bazar tomorrow (Friday). In Chittagong, he is expected to hold meetings with the port authority, trade union leaders, local MPs and the city Mayor. The Minster will discuss various port issues with them during the meetings.
