FBCCI, IBCCI to explore north Indian market

A 12-member business delegation of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry and India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry left Dhaka on Monday for the northeastern Indian states of Assam and Meghalaya. The 5-day day visit, headed by the FBCCI president, Annisul Huq, is aimed at increasing Bangladesh’s exports and attracting investors. The FBCCI delegation on October 30 will meet in Kolkata with the leaders of the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is the guardian of the chambers and industries of the northeast India.

Apart from meeting Meghalaya’s deputy chief minister and the minister for border trade, the delegation will also meet the bureaucrats, customs officials and the business community of the two north-eastern states. According to FBCCI, the apex trade body of the country, since the demand of Bangladeshi products is increasing in the northeastern India, Bangladesh business will try to tap the market.

The delegation will also pursue the Indian business community to go for joint venture especially in the mineral based industry. They will also discuss about connectivity and direct air and road link between Bangladesh and the states of Assam and Meghalaya. As part of its vision 2021, the FBCCI has organized this tour especially to project the opportunities available for the foreign investors in Bangladesh and inform about the country’s diversified export products. The delegation includes Abu Alam Chowdhury, vice president of FBCCI, Abdul Matlub Ahmad, Obaidur Rahman and Bijoy Kumar Kejriwal.
