Bangladesh took sweet revenge over Zimbabwe when the Tigers thrashed Zimbabwe by seven wickets in the second ODI of the five-match Grameenphone ODI Series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.

Bangladesh lost to Zimbabwe by five wickets in the first ODI on October 27. Needing 219 runs to win, Bangladesh coasted home in only 29.3 overs making 221 for the loss of three wickets. Bangladesh lost their early three wickets for 56 runs. Later, skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Rokibul Hasan rescued their team contributing together 165 runs in the unbroken fourth wicket stand. Shakib Al Hasan cracked 105 playing just 69 deliveries. His unbeaten 124-minute innings was laced with 14 fours and three sixes, Rokibul remained undefeated with 39 off 75 balls with four strokes beyond the ropes. It is mentionable that it was Shakib Al Hasan's fourth ODI century in his career so far.
Opener Tamim Iqbal and Zunaed Siddiqui added 26 and 23 runs to the host's total. Elton Chigumbura got two wickets conceding 47 runs and Justice Chibhabha took one wicket for 48 runs. Earlier, left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak harpooned five for 29 runs and was adjudged the Man of the Match. A five-wicket haul by left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak powered Bangladesh to bowl out Zimbabwe for a modest 219 off 47.2 overs. Abudr Razzak bowled extremely well and finished as 9.2-0-29-5. Right-arm spinner Naeem Islam and occasional spinner Mohammad Ashraful also shone with the cherry bagging a couple of wickets each giving away 28 and 43 runs respectively. Besides, Shakib Al Hasan took one wicket at the cost of 24 runs.
Coin-favoured Zimbabwe chose to bat first and had a modest start as Hamilton Masakadza and Justice Chibhabha added together 59 runs in the opening stand. Naeem Islam gave his team early breakthrough as he trapped leg before wicket Hamilton Masakadza for 34. Masakadza struck five fours and a six in his 31-ball knock. Justice Chibhabha and Brendon Taylor tried to repair the damage but Mohammad Ashraful struck and removed Chibhabha for 39 off 67 balls amid five fours when the Africans total was 96 for the loss of two wickets. After departure of Chibhabhan, Abdur Razzak removed Taylor for 31 and Charls Coventry when the visitors' total was 96. Naeem Islam removed Tatenda Taiba for 30.
Later, Malcolm Waller was the only Zimbabwean batsman, who hit a notable 40 using 39 deliveries including four fours and a six. Waller was cleanly bowled by Abdur Razzak when the visitors total was 207 for the loss of seven wickets. Earlier, Razzak picked up Charles Coventry's wicket for a duck and later Graeme Cremer for just two. Abdur Razzak trapped Kyle Jarvis, the last batsman of Zimbabwe, for nought. The third one-day-international will be played tomorrow at the same time and venue.
